We are proud to be partnered with Men’s Shed WA to deliver workshops exclusive to First Responders. Participants will choose from a selection of simple projects.
Woodworking allows first responders to use creativity and focus on a task that requires precision and patience, helping to alleviate stress. The feeling of accomplishment that comes from creating something with their own hands can also provide a sense of fulfilment and pride. By participating in woodworking activities, first responders can find a healthy outlet for stress relief and improve their mental and physical health.
Working with clay, whether it’s hand-forming or wheel throwing can provide a multitude of wellness benefits for first responders, including stress reduction, self-expression, physical exercise, occupational therapy, a sense of accomplishment, and social engagement.
We provide specialist instruction to complete a piece of participants’ choosing. It will be professionally glazed and fired then returned.
Painting, drawing and print-making are incredibly mindful, immersive and relaxing activities that allow participants to enter a state of flow. Visual art is also great way to express situations, memories and feelings without words.
We provide basic art supplies, and professional guidance to participants to allow them to carry their newfound hobby home. We aim to complete one piece per person for each workshop.
We believe in supporting our local Aboriginal artists. We provide unique opportunities for Indigenous First Responders to connect with their ancestry; and for non-indigenous First Responders to learn about country and culture. We believe this is incredibly important for our community.
